Kyle Singler is a 35 year old member of the Class of 2011 rivalry born May 4, 1988 in Medford, Oregon. He was a basketball star at South Medford High School in Oregon. Singler came out of high school with a lot of buzz after being one of the best all-around players in the nation at his position and he landed at Duke University, arguably the best program in college history.
Duke University (2006–2011), College
Singler spent four seasons with the Duke Blue Devils under coach Mike Krzyzewski. At Duke, Singler quickly developed into a key player and showed the ability to play multiple positions. He was essentially a 6’8″ practice squad version of Joel Embiid — built like a tank with a skillset that led him to score, rebound and play defense at an extremely high level both inside and outside. Here are a few highlights of his college career:
First Year: As a rookie Singler was outstanding, pulling down 13.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest A 2009 ACC Championship was captured with his versatile prowess at Duke.
Singler continued to develop and was one of Duke’s key pieces his sophomore year. He was named to the All-ACC team after averaging 17.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest.
Junior/Senior Seasons: Singler proved to be an essential member of the Blue Devils when he was on team, demonstrating highly valued leadership and scoring skills attendant with championship pedigree on Duke’s 2010 NCAA Championship-winning squad.
