Sutton Lenore Foster (born March 18, 1975 in Statesboro, Georgia), is from Detroit, Michigan. The youngest of three children, her parents were also artists, who helped nurture her performing instinct from an early age. Foster took dance classes and performed in community theater productions as a child, where she began refining her craft.
Education
Foster was in the Troy High School theater program in Michigan. She spent her last two years of high school living in New York City to attend Carnegie Mellon University, studying drama and musical theater. Foster says her time at Carnegie Mellon was transformative and she graduated prepared to become a working theater actor.

Foster finally got her break in 2002 when she starred in the lead role of a Broadway musical adaptation of the 1967 film “Thoroughly Modern Millie.” Foster starred as Millie Dillmount, a Kansas girl who moves to New York looking for a new life — and love. A hit show with audiences and critics, the production demonstrated Foster’s vocal prowess, sharp comic timing and a flirty playfulness that added to the presence of Sofia in 2017.
